The REAL Reasons You’re Struggling with Blogging (or YouTube or Podcasting)

Let’s get right into it.

You’re struggling with blogging (or YouTube or podcasting) because you’re not niched down enough and create selfish content.

That’s the point of this article.

When I got back to Medium after a very long time off of the platform, I noticed something very interesting. Many writers were taking a very black-or-white issue with their stances on things like blogging and WordPress.

Headline after headline screams at you to ditch WordPress and blogging altogether in favor of Medium/Substack/atomic newsletters (whatever that is)/insert favorite tool here. And they all cite the same statistics and reasons why you shouldn’t be blogging:

  • It’s expensive (one article claimed it would cost you $14,000 in your first year to blog)
  • It’s unpredictable with Google updates
  • It’s not a guaranteed way to make money
  • It’s too much of a headache to design and keep up a website
